Memories fade with time and lessons are forgotten, but experiences shape a human being and leave a lasting mark. And we, teachers, have the privilege and the responsibility of guiding early experiences and discoveries. Mani’s hopes and aims are that the teaching materials become transparent to the students, that students come alive through them, that students make contact with the mathematics beyond the words, numbers, and pictures in the textbook – and that as a result they better understand the mathematical world in which they live or imagine.

They can then ask more insightful and interesting questions about them, while also being silently appreciative of the beauty and mystery in the concepts. Rather than merely teaching a student how to calculate, Mani strives to offer them the opportunity to personally connect with abstract and quantitative concepts and experience the wonder.

Mani has been tutoring post-secondary math students for over 7 years and teaching the same for more than 3 years and has had the pleasure of working with thousands of students in both the classroom, in small groups, and one-on-one.

Mani has an integrated Masters of Science degree, majoring in Pure Mathematics from National Institute of Science Education and Research, India and a Ph.D in Pure mathematics from the University of Waterloo.

Mani is fluent in English, Tamil and Hindi.

Mani’s teaching interests include all grades of school mathematics and university level math courses such as single- and multi-variable calculus, linear algebra, real analysis, complex analysis, functional analysis, measure theory and Lebesgue integration, harmonic analysis, topology, and, group theory.
